Mac OS X The Price For Ubiquity

Apple’s latest success in penetrating the consumer market is beginning to show. Inside Mac Radio’s latest podcast on 20 September 2005, reports more hackers are gearing up for an organised attack on Mac-based applications. For the longest time, Mac users have avoided using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer for fear of security vulnerabilities but reports from popular anti-virus program makers, Symantec, have shown that Mozilla- based browsers, like Firefox, are the latest target within the crosshairs of hackers and virus creators.

It appears that the days of complacency by Mac users might be numbered. Whilst, Mac users revel at Apple’s success, this same factor seems to be working against it. Attracting more attention than previously when Mac users represented a small clique-ish community, globally .
