20050211070616633_1If you’re using a G4 PowerBook, this is for you – sit up and pay attention. Apple has been and is conducting a battery recall program for G4 Powebooks.

The affected batteries were sold worldwide from January 2004 through August 2004 for use with 15-inch PowerBook G4 (Aluminum) notebook computers.

Apple has received four reports of batteries over-heating with no injuries reported. Erring on the side of caution as this may pose a fire hazard, Apple’s battery exchange program will replace eligible batteries free of charge.

NOT all batteries are affected.

“The recalled batteries have the Model Number: A1045 and serial numbers that begin with: HQ404HQ405HQ406HQ407, or HQ408. Batteries with the affected serial numbers contain cells that were manufactured by LG Chem, Ltd. of South Korea during the last week of December 2003 only. “

In 1978, founders Matt and Hendricks were looking for a tech event to showcase their new startup. When they couldn’t find one that checked all the boxes they decided to host their own. As they were organizing things, they soon realized they needed somewhere to promote the conference, and that’s how newsweb.com was launched. It later became a blog and the result is what you are looking at right now.
