Mac OS X Leopard, Activity Monitor Fails To Launch After Leopard Upgrade

One of the most common complaints, one which we ourselves have endured until recently, is the failing of Activity Monitor after a Mac OS X Tiger to Leopard upgrade.

Nothing happens. You click the Activity Monitor icon and an error message is displayed prompting a re-launch or the option to report the error to Apple.

Here’s a simple fix.

  • Go to the Apple Developer’s member web site
  • If you’re not already a member then create a membership account
  • If you’re already a member, login
  • Select the Downloads link
  • From the Downloads option select the Developer’s Tools downloads
  • Download the CHUD tools 4.5.0 (Diagram 1.0)
  • Install CHUD tools 4.5.0 on your Mac
  • Restart your Mac

Activity Monitor should be back and working again after the installation.

In 1978, founders Matt and Hendricks were looking for a tech event to showcase their new startup. When they couldn’t find one that checked all the boxes they decided to host their own. As they were organizing things, they soon realized they needed somewhere to promote the conference, and that’s how newsweb.com was launched. It later became a blog and the result is what you are looking at right now.
