Thanks to the guys at Spintriplet.com Mac OS X Tiger users now have, as touted, the most advanced wireless networking widget, currently available at press time.

Unlike generic wireless networking widgets, Air Traffic Controller brings the following features to your Dashboard:

  • Connect to any type of network.
  • Sort networks by any feature.
  • Check for AirTrafficControl updates.
  • Use the Keychain to store, retrieve and update WPA or WEP passwords.
  • Select your own refresh rate.
  • View current connection details including network speed.

The most interesting feature of all, is its ability to present your WiFi connections transfer rate in relative real-time. This more accurately illustrates the depreciation of claimed 54Mbps WiFi networks at range.

There’s now, even a Universal binary version in beta, that works on both PowerPC and Intel Macs.

In 1978, founders Matt and Hendricks were looking for a tech event to showcase their new startup. When they couldn’t find one that checked all the boxes they decided to host their own. As they were organizing things, they soon realized they needed somewhere to promote the conference, and that’s how newsweb.com was launched. It later became a blog and the result is what you are looking at right now.
